Jane Kaufman, a physical therapist for more than 30 years, works from her remote practice in the beautiful state of Vermont. Using Zoom video technologies and privacy protections, she conducts online consultations with patients and families.
An Ithaca College Physical Therapy program graduate, Jane earned her Masters at the University of Vermont. Board Certified by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction Biofeedback (PMD), she is one of a few healthcare providers - here in the U.S. and internationally - to hold this prestigious certification.
In 2003, Jane founded Vermont’s Phoenix Physical Therapy, which specialized in positively resolving pelvic floor muscle dysfunction for individuals of all ages. After 26 years of success and widespread recognition in this highly specialized field, Jane sold the business. She then launched PottyTime Physical Therapy, using remote technologies to help as many children as possible.
Jane’s career has included practice at Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Vermont, and the former Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, where she supervised the Department of Physical Therapy. She has also worked with and managed physical therapy practices around Burlington, Vermont.
Jane has worked as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the University of Vermont’s Department of Physical Therapy for more than 25 years. She also gives presentations to Medical Grand Rounds for the UVM Medical Center’s Family Practice, Pediatric Specialty Clinics, and OB/GYN Departments. She often speaks at local prostate cancer support groups and community outreach programs.
She has presented seminars and workshops at the Annual Conference of the Society of Urological Nurses and Associates (SUNA). Jane has also served on many professional boards and committees, including 12 years as Chair of the Advisory Board for UVM’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Jane collaborates with Tiffany Ellsworth Lee to teach the International Certification Course for eligible providers through Biofeedback Training and Incontinence Solutions. She also mentors healthcare professionals worldwide who are working towards BCIA Board Certification.
A recognized authority and leader in her field of expertise, Jane’s research, in collaboration with the UVM College of Medicine, furthers our knowledge of sexual dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, and quality of life. She published an article in an international online journal and authored a self-study course made available through the American Physical Therapy Association.
Jane and her husband, Dave, spend their leisure time enjoying family and outdoor activities in Vermont and the nearby Adirondack mountains.
