Vermont Children’s Hospital
“Jane Kaufman has been an incredible asset to the children of Vermont and Upstate NY who struggle with problems of elimination. Her vast training, experience, and expertise have been an indispensable and essential component of their care. As the Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and the Medical Director of the Children’s Specialty Center at the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, I have worked closely with Jane for over 15 years in providing care for our patients suffering with problems with functional constipation, motility and sensory disorders, and incontinence of both stool and urine.
Her amazing bedside manner and calm, compassionate, patient demeanor, coupled with her unprecedented experience, knowledge, and technical skill make her a preeminent expert in this field. I could not recommend her more enthusiastically. I greatly endorse her exceptional abilities and talent for any child battling difficulties with pelvic floor dysfunction or elimination.”

“It’s not an understatement to say that Jane Kaufman changed our lives! My husband and I were at our wits end with my 4-year-old son’s toileting issues after trying every reward, punishment, sticker chart, and game imaginable to try to induce him to poop in the toilet with any regularity and still dealing with regular “accidents”. We read the usual books and sought advice over an 18-month period with several pediatricians, an occupational therapist and a behavioral therapist but were no closer to understanding his issue or seeing any progress. None of these professionals ever mentioned encopresis and the first time I heard it was from Jane.
Getting an actual diagnosis for what was going on with our son was so empowering and made us feel less at sea. And then she provided us with a comprehensive plan that actually worked! After six weeks, accidents have been very few and far between and when they do happen, we have such a better understanding of why and what we can do to address it. My mindset about the whole situation has changed and our relationship with our son has improved without what had become a significant source of tension and angst between us. I would recommend Jane to anyone!”

“Potty training our son took much longer than we anticipated – especially when it came to the big #2. We did our best to follow the advice from all of the various books, articles, etc. that we could get our hands on, but our son just seemed scared of going #2 on the potty. Once we spoke with Jane, she made us feel much better about things. She heard us out on our issues and concerns and came up with a custom plan for our little guy that didn’t feel intimidating or impossible. We chose a potty that worked for him, made a chart that he was excited about, and eventually he was very comfortable going #2 on the potty regularly. Before finding PottyTime, I felt completely helpless, but with Jane’s help, we got on the right track and my son got very comfortable with the potty very quickly. So grateful!”
